______________
Coffee from the San Marcos region of Guatemala is cultivated along the country’s western highlands near the slopes of the Tajumulco volcano. With elevations often exceeding 1,300 meters, abundant rainfall, and nutrient-rich volcanic soils, San Marcos produces coffees known for their brightness, structure, and layered sweetness.
At a medium roast, this regional character comes into beautiful balance. The cup opens with notes of milk chocolate and caramelized sugar, followed by subtle hints of red apple and ripe plum. A gentle citrus brightness—reminiscent of orange peel—adds lift without overpowering the sweetness.
The body is medium and round, offering a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Acidity is lively yet refined, providing clarity and balance rather than sharpness. As the coffee cools, deeper undertones of cocoa and toasted almond emerge, leading to a clean, lingering finish with a touch of brown sugar sweetness.
Often fully washed, San Marcos coffees are known for their clarity and vibrant structure. In a medium roast, these qualities harmonize into a cup that is both approachable and complex—sweet, balanced, and distinctly Guatemalan.
Versatile across brewing methods, this coffee performs beautifully as drip, pour-over, or espresso, offering a dependable profile that is bright yet comforting.
