Coffee from the Amazonas Region in northern Peru is grown high in the Andean cloud forests, where elevations ranging from 1,200 to over 1,800 meters and fertile mountain soils create ideal conditions for producing refined, high-quality beans. Smallholder farmers carefully cultivate and typically fully wash their coffees, resulting in clean, expressive cup profiles.
At a medium roast, Amazonas coffee reveals a harmonious balance of sweetness, body, and gentle brightness. The cup opens with notes of milk chocolate and caramel, layered with soft citrus tones—often reminiscent of sweet orange or mandarin. As it develops, hints of red apple, toasted almond, and light brown sugar emerge, adding depth and warmth.
The acidity is smooth and approachable, offering liveliness without sharpness. A medium body provides a rounded, silky mouthfeel, while the finish is clean and slightly nutty, with lingering cocoa sweetness and subtle fruit undertones.
This roast level enhances the region’s natural sweetness while preserving its clarity, making it an excellent choice for drip coffee, pour-over, or French press. The result is a well-balanced, easy-drinking cup—comforting yet vibrant, with the gentle complexity characteristic of Peru’s Amazonas highlands.
